The White Stag was photographed by amateur photographer Ken Grindle near forests in Lydney, Gloucestershire

The White Stag. A creature of myth and legend. The Celts considered the animal a messenger from the “other world”. A White Stag appears in the Chronicles of Narnia and grants wishes to those fortunate enough to come across its path. A White Stag even holds a place in Christianity, said to be a key element in the conversion of martyr Saint Eustace. Even King Arthur tried to nab one in the legend of the Round Table but came up empty handed.

Photographer Ken Grindle has succeeded where so many have failed: photographing the ever-elusive White Stag in the Forest of Dean.
