Remember Pixeljunk Racers, one of the first downloadable games on Sony’s Playstation Network? Yeah, the game that looked cool in screenshots but played like utter garbage? Yeah, the game that just about every critic hated? Thanks to the ESRB once again rating and outing an unannounced game, we’ve learned that PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap will be filling that gaping hole in your soul. No word on when the sequel will be released to an unenthusiastic public.

Sonic the Hedgehog Seeks Redemption in July, Includes iPhone Appearance

SEGA has inadvertently let the proverbial cat-out-of-the-bag about Sonic the Hedgehog’s future game appearances, evidenced by the graphic above that was located on the official Sonic 4 website. The image reveals two important elements, including a release date (July 2010) and available platforms, which include the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and the long-rumored and now confirmed, iPhone (and iPad).

Proof can be found here, though the image has apparently been removed by undoubtedly embarrassed representatives of SEGA.

Hugo Chavez Attacks Nintendo and Playstation

You can always count on Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela, to say something ridiculous or, at the very least, entertaining. Every week Hugo makes his citizens listen to his insufferable radio show known as Alo Presidente where he drones on and on about whatever comes to mind. This week Mr. Chavez was thinking about toys and videogames.

Chavez on Nintendo promotions: “selfishness, individualism and violence”.

Chavez on PlayStation: “Those games they call ‘PlayStation’ are poison. Some games teach you to kill. They once put my face on a game, ‘you’ve got to find Chavez to kill him. …Promote the need for cigarettes, drugs and alcohol so they can sell them. That’s capitalism, the road to hell.”

No insults for Xbox? So he’s not ALL bad.

The Easy Guide to PlayStation 2 Emulation on a PC Computer – 2010 Edition

I’ve spent the past week experimenting, tweaking, cursing and crashing in my attempts to run a solid PlayStation 2 emulator on the PC. I come to you after my brutal journey with the fruits of my labor, hopefully making your imminent adventure far more enjoyable and infinitely less frustrating.

Why would anyone want to emulate PlayStation 2 games on the PC?

Simple: PS2 games look better than they have ever looked. They look better than the original PlayStation 2 and they look better than the PlayStation 3’s built-in emulator, available only earlier models. Why do PS2 games look better with PC emulation? Because you can use the power of your video card to render games at super-high resolutions. For instance, I’m currently playing Final Fantasy XII at 1920 x 1080 with x2 Anti-Alias at a steady 60-frames-per-second! It looks freaking sweet.

Here is a little proof. The first image shows Final Fantasy XII as it looks running at its native resolution while the second image is enhanced emulation. Note the crispness of the emulation shots, while the standard PS2 version is full of jaggies and pixelation.
