If you’re a fan of Doctor Who and have a soft spot in your heart for the writing of Neil Gaiman, then today is your lucky day as Mr. Gaiman has confirmed that he has indeed written a script for the popular British TV series.

The script is titled The House of Nothing and is slated to air in 2011.

During his acceptance speech for best comic at the SFX Awards, Gaiman said: “As anyone who’s read my blog knows, I’m a big fan of a certain long-running British TV series. One that I started watching – from behind the sofa – when I was three.

“And while I know it’s cruel to make you wait for things, in about 14 months from now – which is to say, not in the upcoming season but early in the one after that – it’s quite possible that I might have written an episode.

“And if I had, it would originally have been called ‘The House of Nothing’. But it definitely isn’t called that any more.”

A spokesman for Doctor Who would not confirm Gaiman’s announcement.

The next series of the show, starring Matt Smith as the 11th Time Lord, is due to air in the spring.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan releases this week, which should make fans going through withdrawal quite happy. The Plan, directed James Olmos, attempts to fill in fill in gaps as it relates to the Cylons, specifically the story of Kavil. Unfortunately, The Plan is not a strong movie, lacking a central narrative thread. It plays out like a retrospective of key Battlestar events, doesn’t really shed light on anything, is disjointed and without purpose. Not a great review, sorry to say. On the upside, the special-effects have never been better, easily the best technical work of the series.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Monty Python: Almost The Truth is the best documentary ever created about the British comedy group Monty Python. Stretching six glorious hours, every member is interviewed, memories are recalled and tons of things you never new are revealed. This documentary, made by the son of Terry Jones, goes in-depth on how the group formed, what their lives were like prior to Monty Python, their inspirations, battles with the BBC, how George Harrison of the Beatles financed The Holy Grail because he wanted to see the movie, and on and on and on. No Monty Python fan should be without this great documentary in their library.

What a bizarre target for obliteration. Why Avsim? Why not Play Him Off, Keyboard Cat?

According to the BBC, popular flight-simulation website Avsim, dedicated primarily to Microsoft’s Flight Simulator, was completely destroyed by malicious hackers.

From the BBC:

The attack took down the site’s two servers and the owners had not established an external backup system.

The site’s founder, Tom Allensworth, said that the site would be down for the foreseeable future and was unsure if would ever go back up.

“The method of the hack makes recovery difficult, if not impossible, to recover from,” Mr Allensworth said in a statement.

“AVSIM is totally offline at this time and we expect to be so for some time to come. We are not able to predict when we will be back online, if we can come back at all. “

Shocker: Sir David Attenborough to Reveal Missing Human Link?

According to the Daily Mail, the BBC has produced a new documentary hosted by Sir David Attenborough that may reveal the discovery of a fossilized skeleton that is the infamous missing link in evolution. While the contents of the documentary are top secret, some information has leaked from sources close to the film, saying results of the scientific study will be presented in New York on May 19th.

From Daily Mail:

The centrepiece of the programme is the unveiling of the first-ever complete skeleton of an extinct animal called an adapid.

The fossilised bones, which are thought to be between 37 and 47million years old, were found in Germany’s Messel Shale Pit, a disused quarry near Frankfurt famous for its fossils.

The team who examined the young female animal say it has some resemblance to a lemur, a mammal with a distinctive tail that is found to this day in the forests of Madagascar.

But Sir David’s documentary will explain that the researchers have, controversially, concluded the fossil ‘is not simply a lemur’ but from a related group of primates which evolved into monkeys, apes and human beings.

The BBC programme is based on a scientific study to be published by the Public Library of Science, a leading academic journal with offices in Cambridge and San Francisco.

Last night, the study’s co-author, Philip Gingerich, the president-elect of the US Paleontological Society, said: ‘I examined this skeleton. It is exceptionally complete and it is well-dated.
