Revolt is a twin-stick shooter (or twin-thumbs if you’re a stickler for accuracy) featuring some of the best graphics yet on the iPhone. Gameplay appears pretty solid for this type of genre and the feature list is very promising. Perhaps most impressive is that Revolt was made by only two people over 10 months of time.
Two months? That’s way too long to have to wait for many die-hard Apple early-adopters. Thankfully however, the design wiz over at SevensHeaven has created a very simple and inexpensive attachment that allows you to experience of using the sleek modern marvel now! All it requires is the add-on itself and your existing iPhone or iTouch. Simply attach the two and suddenly your screen is bigger, your using existing iPhone apps, your impressing friends and coworkers, and, best of all, your wallet isn’t $1,000+ lighter!
All kidding aside, it’s been amusing to see the irrational explosion of emotions online from the two camps, both those that think it will change the world and people sure it’s destined to be a big slick paper weight. A huge part of the answer to that debate should be determined by the power of Apple’s new A4 processor – something we’ve only seen a little evidence of but is one of the big differences between existing Apple PDAs and the iPad, besides size. Hopefully we’ll learn more about it’s capabilities soon and see whether there’s any truth to this joke or not.
Only minutes ago and after months of rumor and speculation, self proclaimed genius, Steve Jobs, stunned the world by announcing yet another product sure to change the way we live life as we know it. It’s the Apple iPad! While most people thought Mr. Jobs would choose a more descriptive and less feminine hygiene product-sounding name, like iSlate or iTablet, the biggest surprise was actually the price. The most basic model (16GB/WiFi, no 3G) is only $499 which makes it much more affordable than most industry watchers expected and is probably meant to help it overcome some of the consumer adoption concerns many anticipate. The iPads will be managed through iTunes and run existing iPhone apps in a window (or pixel-doubled fullscreen) and will ship unlocked and attached to any specific carrier. WiFi-only units are supposed to hit store shelves in only 60 days with 3G-enabled units following 30 days beyond that.
Arriving out of nowhere and surprising everyone, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has suddenly appeared as a game app for the Apple iPhone. Chinatown Wars received excellent reviews on the DS but had a hell of a time selling copies. End result: Chinatown Wars was one of the best-reviewed games for the DS and failed miserably on the platform. Some cited piracy, but I continue to insist that DS platform was not the correct machine for the franchise. With the Apple iPhone, Chinatown Wars should find the riches it deserved in the first place.
