Kathryn Bigelow is one of the top directors in Hollywood and will hopefully be garnering a Best Director nomination for the forthcoming Oscars for her brilliant movie The Hurt Locker. Kathryn has been making movies for a long time, most notably the cult-classic Near Dark, which played with the vampire genre long before it became fashionable. Another note of interest is that Kathryn Bigelow was once married to James Cameron, director of Avatar, Terminator and Aliens, so this year could see the first directing nominations for a once-married couple.

Many, including myself, have been waiting patiently for Kathryn to select her next project. The wait is over. Kathryn is tentatively scheduled to direct a movie based on the book Held By The Taliban, by New York Times journalist David Rohde, which recounts his days of captivity at the hands of the nefarious Taliban.

Should make for a harrowing film, the perfect fit for Bigelow.
